My goal was to create a poster drawing attention to climate concerns based on the way sensitive amphibians are early indicators to harmful changes in an ecosystem. I sketched many ideas, but once I found this image, I was able to establish a clear direction for the design. The oil-spill-like pattern on the frog inspired me to create a graphic that looks just as unnatural and toxic, and to create a composition where it looks as though the frog is absorbing this poison onto itself. I wanted the typography to reflect this swirling poisonous mess, so I experimented with using inky fonts and curving the baseline of the body text. The final poster represents the toxic environment amphibians and humans are facing as a result of climate change.

A year later, I revisited this poster and created a motion graphic to support its content and further inform on the issue. Here is my initial storyboard for the animation.
